It’s A Pleasure to Welcome You to the
Somerset West Unitarian Fellowship
Thank you for your interest in the Somerset West Unitarian Fellowship. The Fellowship has been meeting in this suburb for over 20 years and is loosely affiliated with the Unitarian Church in Cape Town. We rent a room in a local retirement centre and meet at 10:30 am on the first Sunday of every month, except in December and January. Everyone is welcome regardless of their spiritual interest or background. If the faith of Unitarians is unfamiliar to you, please read What We Believe.
Our Monthly Services
Our services are quite informal, and we meet in the round with 20-30 people on a typical Sunday morning. We usually have two readings and the lighting of our chalice candle at the beginning of the service. Then we share joys and concerns contributed by the group members. The main part of the service is a presentation by an activist from the community, a Unitarian from Cape Town or one of our local members. The subject of the presentation varies considerably from month to month with a few of our past topics being the environment, meditation, prayer, communication, and reconciliation. After the presentation, we have a free and open discussion followed by coffee, tea, refreshments and most importantly conversation.
