Weddings & Child Blessings
Wedding services are a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the love of two individuals who have chosen to come together in marriage.
Because of our strong respect for each person’s beliefs and values, each wedding is custom-crafted with a couple to reflect their personalities and relationship. Our ministers help design conventional weddings, interfaith weddings, atheist/agnostic weddings, and weddings for those with other beliefs.
In addition to blessing heterosexual unions, ministers and congregations joyfully bless same-sex marriages. Unitarians affirm the inherent worth and dignity of all people and have a long history of promoting equal rights of people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT).

Sample Wedding Ceremonies
There are as many potential wedding ceremonies as there are couples desiring to unite as one. Each wedding and commitment ceremony is unique and tailored to the personalities and expectations of the couple involved. These examples, from another website in the US, will give you a sample of possibilities, but they should by no means be considered either typical of their type or a menu from which you must choose. There are tons of ritual elements that can be included in weddings that aren’t even touched on.
Child blessing ceremonies are usually crafted by the parents and one of our ministers working closely together. Such ceremonies will often include:
- A blessing for the new life of the child
- An expression of the parent or parents’ hopes for the child
If you are interested in having your child dedicated by one of our ministers, either in your home or in the church with the congregation, please contact one of them.
