2 July– Traditional Service: The Role of Faith in Our Spiritual Journey. Nima will share her own roller coaster ride with faith, as well as what some of the mystics have encountered on their spiritual journey.
9 July – Soul Carers Network Intro to Spiritual Care as Part of Palliative Care: Melanie Ferreira with Carol Scrooby and Rafaela Peerutin. Soul care is about caring for the spiritual needs of people towards the end of life. Soul Carers provide support and companionship in various ways, and always at the request of the person we are serving.
16 July – Madiba Day with Mphala Mogudi: Legacy of Resistance. Mphala will review how her understanding of resistance has developed over time and share lessons from experiences in her own family to lessons from resistance leaders like Mandela.
23 July – The Ministry Team Shares What We Do! Join the ministry team as they give an overview of where they are focused and how you might get involved.
30 July – Rev. Theo Mayekiso: In Search of Ubuntu (Sympathy, Respect, Brotherly/Sisterly love, Compassion and Empathy) the Way of the Heart. As the heart operates on three planes embedded in those planes components of Ubuntu ought to exist.

Somerset West Fellowship - IN PERSON

Gur Mouanga will speak on the topic of "What Can Sustain Us in Times of Despair?" Gur serves on the Pastoral Care Team at Tygerberg Hospital for trauma and pastoral counselling. He will share encounters with his patients, who oftentimes struggle to sustain themselves in times of challenges.
Gur is originally from Congo-Brazzaville, but fled his country because of political unrest. He has been in ministerial training in liberal theology at the Unitarian Seminary in Chicago. He has earned a Master’s degree in Leadership Studies and is now in a Double Master’s Program in Divinity.
COST: Free, as well as free light refreshments.

CTU Community Choir - HYBRID
5 July and every Wednesday after, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Camille Hatton invites everyone to join our hybrid Community Choir rehearsals. All are welcome irrespective of experience or ability. Each week we will explore some UU hymns, other congregational style hymns, and work on repertoire for upcoming services. We aim to sing in service once or twice a month when feasible. We may not have the white stuff, but we will have the red! Yes, lovely mulled wine, glühwein, to warm our hearts from winter’s chill and to toast one another in togetherness. Our building will be decorated with good Christmas cheer in July. All we ask please is for you to join us and to bring a dish or beverage to share.

Archive Digitising Project
Gratitude to Ana and Christine for prototyping the digitising of our archives. Did you know that in April of 1964, CTU's Rev. Victor Carpenter wrote letters of protest against the 90-day detention clause, as part of his active involvement in the anti-Apartheid movement? Thanks to new technology, anyone can help us digitise these important pieces of history. Save the date for a digitising party on Sunday 27 August at 12 pm.
